Note: くにがまえ is the only “かまえ” radical that completely encloses the inside of a character. Other かまえ radicals, like けいがまえ (冂) or もんがまえ (門), remain open on one side. This full frame shape gives 囗 its meaning of boundaries, areas, or confinement.
