About Kanji World
Kanji World is a free, ad-free project built to make learning Japanese easier and more enjoyable. But it’s not only for foreign learners — Japanese users also use it as a bilingual tool, discovering English through kanji. On this page, you’ll discover who we are, what you can get, and how our project is growing. Who We Are (Our Mission)
Kanji World is an independent, non-profit project. Our mission is to create an open and accessible environment for learning Japanese — not just kanji in isolation, but Japanese as a living language. It’s not only for foreign learners: Japanese users can also use it to explore English through kanji, making Kanji World a truly bilingual learning tool. We believe kanji are not simply characters to memorize, but a gateway to a deeper understanding of both language and culture. The design of Kanji World allows users to move freely from page to page, letting one point of interest naturally lead to the next discovery and learning. Kanji World は、非営利で、よりよい学習環境の実現をめざす独自プロジェクトです。 私たちの使命は、漢字だけを切り離すのではなく、「生きた日本語」を学べる、開かれたアクセスしやすい学習環境をつくることです。 外国人学習者のためだけでなく、日本のユーザーも漢字を通して英語を学べる、真のバイリンガル学習ツールとして活用できます。 漢字は単なる暗記の対象ではなく、言語や文化を深く理解するための入口だと考えています。 Kanji World は、ページからページへ自由に行き来でき、関心のあることから次の発見や学びへと自然につながるように設計されています。

- Radical Explorer — browse kanji by radical to see how characters are built and connected.
- Smart Search — quickly find any kanji, radical, or example across the site. Works with English keywords, jukugo in Japanese (compound words), and even searches mixed with ひらがな.
- Sayings+ — idiomatic expressions and proverbs linked to and from kanji pages, with English notes and E-voice guides to show real usage.
- Basics+ — llearn everyday Japanese phrases and words with English voice guides and kanji links.
- KFR 3000 — structured high-frequency kanji lists with direct links and study tools.
- Voice Guides — simple audio explanations in English and Japanese, available on many pages.
- 101シリーズ：カナ 101・漢字 101・単語 101・助詞 101・活用形 101：英語で、日本語と英語の文法の違いをしっかり学べます。
- インタラクティブ漢字ページ：読み方・意味・語彙（英単語の発見と学習に最適）・コンボ・文化的な注釈。興味を持った内容から次々とページを進められ、効率的で実りある学習を楽しく体験できます。日本人が漢字と結びつけて単語を覚える習性（感覚）を、そのまま英語学習にも活かせる設計です。
- 部首エクスプローラー：部首ごとに漢字をたどり、構造やつながりを理解。

- 日常表現と基本単語 — 英語音声で学べる初心者コーナー。基本表現や動詞などをランダムに表示し、やさしく解説します。

Where We Stand (Looking Ahead)
We are steadily expanding Kanji World, step by step. More than a thousand of kanji pages are already live, with new content added regularly. Alongside this, we’ve launched a full Sayings+ Section — proverbs and idioms cross-linked with kanji pages, enriched with English notes and E-voice guides, plus powerful search functions. Our broader goal is to cover all Jōyō kanji (and beyond), deepen audio coverage, and introduce thematic collections and cultural mini-guides. This is a long-term, nonprofit effort — innovative, accessible, and fun to use. Kanji World は 一歩ずつ着実に拡大しています。すでに 千以上の漢字ページが公開されており、新しいコンテンツも定期的に追加されています。これに加えて、新たに ことわざセクション を開設しました。漢字ページとの相互リンクにより、ことわざや四字熟語を参照でき、英語の解説や E-voice ガイド、さらに強力な検索機能も利用できます。今後の目標は、常用漢字すべて（さらにその先まで）をカバーし、音声ガイドを充実させ、テーマ別コレクションや文化的なミニガイドなども導入していくことです。これは長期的かつ非営利の取り組みであり、革新的で、アクセスしやすく、そして楽しく学べることを目指しています。
