“助数詞じょすうし — counting with counters”

Number expressions change depending on what you count (for example, 一匹いっぴき for “one small animal” and 三本さんぼん for “three long objects”) in Japanese. These special counting words are called 助数詞 (じょすうし). Below is a practical starter set for everyday use.
