- 青葉 — fresh green leaves
- 青菜 — leafy greens
- 青ざめる — to turn pale
“青” does not only mean blue. In Japanese, it often includes what English speakers call green, such as traffic lights and fresh leaves. It is also used metaphorically for youth and inexperience.
